Now that you have your dock all rigged for fishing with fish attractors, lights, rod holders, and a minnow trap you need to have away to keep the minnows or shad if you are using a cast net alive.  The best way to do that is a bait tank designed for that purpose.  We have a field tested  bait tank we build to our specifications that will maintain your bait for several days if needed.  You can also build one yourself. 

The keys to keeping bait alive are having a round container that is insulated.  The container must be round or oval so that it does not have any corners that bait can get trapped in.  Additionally it must be insulated to keep the water temperature consistent.  Other areas that helps bait survive are providing a steady flow of fresh water and additional aeration.

Live bait is the best way to catch fish from a dock and it will provide your family with many hours of enjoyment.
